Writer's Block: My word

If you could have the writing ability of one author, who would you choose, and why? Would you exchange writing styles permanently?

Paulo Coelho. I was very impressed when I read "The Witch of Portobello". The way it's written is very poetic in a way, and sentimental. I really love that style and when I started writing, that's how I wanted to write, too, but never really did.

Would I exchange styles? My style? No, I don't think so. I really like the way how I write and that's my style, so I wouldn't want to exchange it.

I've tried reading TWO of his books and threw them both away. I had The Alchemist and it was so whacked out and la la Angels and messengers and such that it nauseated me. I GET that some people are into that/believe in that. Me? It just made me think the man was utterly nuts.

The Alchemist is on my to-read list, too, because I heard good things about it. The Witch of Portobello was my first by him and I liked that much. So, at the moment, I can only judge by that. ;-)

It was definitely well written (what I did read), I'm just not very religious (as in not at all) and it made my stomach turn because it was laid on SO thick.

Hm... I'm not much of the religious kind myself, so well, I think I'll see if I like it. I'll definitely try it.
