Just a short entry today. I'm not on my laptop right now (and why is it that only then, I find much that I'd like to save?) and I'm almost on my way off.

Anyway, just wanted to talk about the interview I had with the potential job thing. Got there really early this morning. They said I could come in between 8 and 12 in the morning. I was in town already at 8, so I went to this straight afterwards. Well, they were really nice, I mean, I know the owners of the taxi company - I went to school with their youngest son - and the one who told me about the job lives only one street from where I live. I didn't know her personally but I'd seen her before.

So, it's basically only a telephone job. I mean, I'd have to take the calls and give it to the drivers via radio. But she said that that's a lot of work actually, because it requires lots of independent working and thinking ahead, for planning the routes etc. And if they employed me, the first four weeks would be only sitting next to the telephone to learn that, because that's the most important thing. And only then, I'd start with throwing in the other office things, like filing and all.

She asked if I wanted to come in one day and watch her and get to know what it's all about, so that's what I'll be doing tomorrow, for about four hours maybe. I don't doubt myself that I could do it, but I've never done anything like this, so I think it's good that I can come and watch her for the day. I told her right away that I'd be gone over the weekend, and she said that I could think about it then until next week, whether I'd like to try or not.

So, the potential job is very "potential". I'd do it just to get away from the job center. :P

In other news, I finally got a new mattress today. When I bought a new bed four years ago, it came with one hellish mattress. And finally I found a cheap one that size, which I put on top of the hellish one. The bed is really high now, but omg, I tested it and I think I'll sleep like an angel tonight. *g*

Appointment with the hair dresser tomorrow. Will have the ends trimmed a bit but not too much. And after that, a little shopping (I'm still looking for a bigger messenger bag to take to the convention) and I need to get some cash, too, for the weekend. Busy day tomorrow. :)

Ooh, sounds to me like it's not so 'potential' if they want you to come take a closer look. They must like you as a candidate, otherwise they wouldn't bother!

My summer job these past two years (and this year again, too) has been picking up phones and making calls working for a gas company. I had to take the orders of clients and put them in the computer and it was all very complicated and if I had known before signing the contract just what exactly the job would entail, I would have turned around without thinking twice. I usually hate talking on the phone, especially if there are other people listening in, but now I'm proud and relieved I went and did it anyway, because I learned a lot and it's helped me be more confident. It's actually a lot of fun too! Trust me, you'll get all kinds of people on the other line, and don't ever think, "it can't get any crazier than this person," because before you know it you'll have an old lady on the line asking for prices and you rattle them off and she tells you to hang on, she's going to get a pen and whatever you do, don't hang up, she'll be right back, ok!? So you assure her, don't worry, take your time, and the next thing you hear is dial tone because she forgot how to operate a phone and hung up on you.

But I'm rambling. I guess what I'm trying to say is: go for it!

Woohoo! Good for you. Don't worry about not having done anything too similar before because they'll teach you whatever you need to know. You will do awesome. :D
